4. Eleanor Tinsley Park

Eleanor Tinsley Park is a sprawling 11.6-acre park along Buffalo Bayou. You'll find several great vantage points for taking photos of the Houston skyline. Don't miss the Allen Love Lock Bridge! Eleanor Tinsley Park is by far my favorite place to take out-of-town guests for fabulous social-media-ready pictures!
Location: 1800-3600 Allen Parkway, Houston

5. Greetings from Houston Mural

Painted by artist Daniel Anguilu, the Greetings From Houston mural makes a great backdrop for your Instagram photos. Memorialize your visit to Houston with a picture in front of the colorful street art.

This large urban park features several cool places to take pictures, like the color block building and Monument au Fantome by Jean Dubuffet, as well as various rotating art installations.
Location: 1500 McKinney Street, Houston

7. HOUSTON Mural and Color Wall

The Washington Corridor is one of the best locations in Houston to quickly fill your Instagram feed. The brightly-colored HOUSTON mural looks like a sunburst married a sunset. The perfect backdrop to match your bright personality. The color wall features bright blues, purples, oranges, yellows, and greens.
Location: 5913 Washington Avenue, Houston

8. Color Wall

This color wall features warm autumn colors. Throw on a cozy fall sweater and snap some Insta-worthy pictures.
Location: 5317 Washington Avenue, Houston

9. Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park

This sculptural fountain located in Uptown is massive oh-so-cool! Feel the mist as you pose in front of the waterwall for those fab Insta pics!
Location: 2800 Post Oak Boulevard, Houston

10. Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens

Though you do have to pay to get in, Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens, the former home of Ima Hogg and now a museum, offers beautiful gardens with sculptures, fountains, and flowers for beautiful Insta-worthy photos. Though you do have to get permission and pay a session fee to have an actual photoshoot there with a professional photographer, if you are just visiting and snapping a few casual photos, you don't need anything extra.
Location: 6003 Memorial Drive, Houston

11. Beatles and We {Heart} Houston

Stop in at 8th Wonder Brewery for a cold beverage and some cool photo ops. Beatles fans will love the giant Beatles statues, and anyone who has an affinity for H-Town can get pictures of the massive We {Heart} Houston sign.
Location: 2202 Dallas Street, Houston

12. Hermann Park

This huge, 445-acre park in Houston's Museum District encompasses the Houston Zoo and features a beautiful Japanese Garden, a statue of Sam Houston, a large reflection pool, several water features, a small train, a lake, and much more. Whether you simply stop in front of the reflecting pool for a quick photo or you explore the grounds for some unique shots, you're sure to create some great memories at Hermann Park.
Location: 6001 Fannin Street, Houston

13. Amtrak Train Station

Another great place to get some cool photos of Houston's skyline is from the parking lot of the Amtrak train station.
Location: 902 Washington Ave, Houston

14. Tranquility Park

Experiment with angles, stairs, and various backdrops, like the cylindrical water fountains and pools, in Tranquility Park in Downtown Houston.
Location: 400 Rusk Street, Houston

15. Heights Neighborhood Library

Book lovers and architect gurus will appreciate the beautiful curves of this Italian Renaissance building and all the wonderful words housed inside. Built in the early 1900s, this stunning edifice with its pale pink stucco is the perfect backdrop for your dreamy Instagram shots. The large live oak trees outside are also the perfect spot for urban nature photos.
Location: 1302 Heights Boulevard, Houston

16. Sabine Street Bridge

With a great pedestrian walkway, the Sabine Street Bridge is a popular spot for engagement photos, though I am putting this on my list for our next family photos.
Location: Buffalo Bayou Walk (Part of Eleanor Tinsley Park)

17. Tolerance (Plensa) Statues

The Tolerance Statues are awesome metal sculptures located in Buffalo Bayou Park. Take a picture of one or with it. Either way, these statues look great on social media!
Location: 2121 Allen Parkway (at Montrose)

18. Buffalo Bayou Park

Speaking of Buffalo Bayou Park, take a stroll through the park and you'll find dozens of cool spots to take pictures. I particularly like the Jackson Hill Pedestrian Bridge and the Rosemont Pedestrian Bridge, but you don't have to go up to get great photos. You'll find plenty of pretty places to snap photos.
Location: The park stretches from Shepherd Drive to Sabine Street along Buffalo Bayou

19. Smither Park

This super-quirky park features lots of fabulous mosaics that make the perfect background for social media pictures.
Location: 2441 Munger Street, Houston

20. Brown Chapel

If you love brick walls, Houston will not disappoint. One of my favorites is the Brown Chapel AME on Washington Ave. The building has been around since at least 1881 and I wish its walls could talk! Sit or stand on the steps leading up to the building for great angles, with the red and black brick behind you.
Location: 3208 Washington Avenue, Houston

21. Old Fire Station No. 6

History and brick fans can continue down Washington Ave to the building that formerly housed Fire Station Number 6. Built in 1903, the building has since been turned into office spaces and the new fire station is up the road a bit, but the building itself still has its cool old facade.
Location: 1702 Washington Ave, Houston

22. Cullen Sculpture Garden

Part of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH), the Lillie and Hugh Roy Cullen Sculpture Garden features a number of remarkable, social-media-worthy pieces. It's free to walk around the garden, and worth a stop just to see "The Bean."
Location: Calumet Street, Houston

23. MKT Distillery

If you want a more rustic backdrop for your photos, head west to Katy, one of Houston's premier suburbs, and visit MKT Distillery. Park in the back and use the white rice silos as your background.
Location: 5373 1st Street, Katy

24. MKT Railroad Museum

While you're in Katy, especially if you're a train enthusiast, snap some photos of the MKT red caboose.
Location: 5615 1st Street, Katy

25. Baps Shri Swaminarayan Mandir

To see possibly the most interesting architecture in Houston, head southwest to Stafford and visit BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir. Though you are not allowed to take cameras inside, photography is permitted outside. The Hindu temple is absolutely stunning and well worth the drive.
Location: 1150 Brand Lane, Stafford

Whether you live here and are wanting to take engagement photos, wedding photos, graduation photos, maternity photos, or something entirely different, or you are just visiting and want to capture your travel memories, Houston and the surrounding areas offer excellent places to do so. With colorful walls, green spaces, and cool buildings (both old and new), Houston offers photo opportunities throughout the city.
