 Summer in Western Ontario Ontario is called the "Land of 1000 Lakes," and rightly so. Everywhere we looked, we saw water! We spent a month in Western Ontario, in a town called Ignace. We workamped at Davy Lake Campground, a family-owned campground on a small lake. When we weren't working, we spent time updating the website, exploring the town, and getting to know our new friends. During our first week in Ignace, we took a walk down Highway 17 to see what we could find, and we were not disappointed!  Ignace, Ontario, Canada Though we did not see as much wildlife as we had hoped, we found beauty in the "smalls" of nature, from unique caterpillars to colorful flowers and a variety of pine trees. Plus, on the way back, we stopped by the local library and scored half a dozen books for $.50 each!  We found this caterpillar perfectly stunning.  Symmetry Our wonderful hosts and new friends, Bob and Stephanie, who own Davy Lake Campground graciously offered to take us on a boat trip on our last day in town. The views were amazing, the conversations were humorous, and the weather was perfect.  Lake Agimak, Ignace, Ontario And the best part: we were able to witness a number of oh-so-regal bald eagles in flight and perched high in evergreen trees.  Bald Eagle  A whole family of eagles. Can you spot all three? Sadly, this wasn't even the smallest fish I caught!  Here, fishy, fishy!  As the sun dropped below the tree line, we turned and headed for shore. Bob and Stephanie, thank you so much for the laughs! We'll be back for ice fishing one of these days! For everyone else, if you are traveling through Canada along the Trans-Canada Highway, make sure you stop in Ignace and stay at Davy Lake Campground. You won't regret it!
