"Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada"! The neon sign welcomes visitors from far and wide to a city that is best known for its casinos. But Vegas is so much more than casinos and buffet restaurants. Yes, it still has its seedier sides, but the city abounds with fun and exciting things for kids of all ages. Read more to see what to do and where to go if you take your kids to Las Vegas.On the Las Vegas Strip1. Watch the dancing water at the Bellagio fountains.This is easily one of my favorite free things to do in Las Vegas. Throughout the day, the Bellagio fountains put on a fabulous show, timed to music. The fountain shows start at 15-minute or 30-minute intervals, depending on the time of the day and whether it's a weekday or weekend. Your whole family will enjoy this show! 2. Take a gondola ride at the Venetian.Though nothing perfectly captures the experience of the real thing - a gondola ride in Venice - your kids are sure to enjoy a gondola ride at the Venetian in Vegas. 3. See the wax figures at Madame Tussauds.While you're at the Venetian, meet the wax figures at Madame Tussauds. With admission starting at $36.99, this is not the least expensive thing to do with your kids in Vegas, but if you have never been to a Madame Tussauds, it's worth a visit. 5. Get your gaming on at the Fun Dungeon.Your small gamers will love testing their skills at the Fun Dungeon arcade at Excalibur. 6. Enjoy dinner and a show at Tournament of Kings.After getting your video game fix, stay at Excalibur for the Tournament of Kings dinner show. The live-action show lasts 90 minutes and does involve some pyrotechnics and live animals, so be aware of your child's attention span, sensitivity to lights, and other needs. 7. Ride the roller coaster at New York-New York.Your older kids can enjoy the thrill of the Big Apple Coaster at New York-New York. 8. Stay for the Big Apple Arcade.Stick around after the roller coaster ride to let your kiddos test their skills at classic arcade games like Skee-Ball and Air Hockey at the Big Apple Arcade. 9. Take a limo ride.Ride down the Strip in style to see all the lights and people. 10. Watch a Cirque Du Soleil show.KA, located at the MGM Grand, Beatles LOVE, located at the Mirage, and O, located at the Bellagio, are all great options for kids. The acrobatics and music are sure to amuse your littles. 11. See floral and art displays.These impressive displays are located in a 14,000-square-foot space in the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. With free admission, this is another one of the best things to do in Vegas. 12. Say "Hello" to the sharks.Visit the Mandalay Bay Shark Reef Aquarium, located at Mandalay Bay Resort, to see the sharks, rays, and other aquatic creatures. 13. Ride the High Roller.At the LINQ, you will find the High Roller, an observation Ferris wheel that lifts riders 550 feet into the air over the Vegas Strip. The whole circuit takes 30 minutes to complete. 14. Wander the LINQ Promenade.After your ride on the High Roller, wander along the LINQ Promenade for some shopping and tasty treats. 15. Get your thrills at the Stratosphere.You and your older kids can ride the thrill rides at the Stratosphere. With names like X-Scream and Insanity, you know they are sure to both scare and excite! 16. Visit the circus.Your littles and bigger kids alike will enjoy the free circus show daily at Circus Circus Hotel. 17. Play games on the Midway.Stick around Circus Circus to walk the Midway, playing games and riding rides, like bumper cars and the carousel. 18. See other shows.Older kids may enjoy shows like The Blue Man Group at the Luxor, Jabbawockeez at MGM Grand, Mat Franco at the LINQ, and David Copperfield at the MGM Grand. You can also see which of their favorite singers is performing in Las Vegas while you are there, as there are always new shows to see! 19. See the Strip from the Eiffel Tower.Paris Las Vegas' Eiffel Tower replica is half the size of the original in Paris, France. You and your kids can take in the sights of the Strip, including the Bellagio Fountains, from the 46th-floor observation deck. 20. Visit the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat.Located at the Flamingo, this wildlife habitat is home to flamingos (obviously) and other water birds, hummingbirds, turtles, and fish. Enjoy some quiet time in this peaceful spot on the Vegas Strip. 21. Take some wacky pictures.The Museum of Illusions, located between the Cosmopolitan and the Shops at Crystals, is sure to confuse the senses and offer lots of great photo ops. 22. Enjoy Fantastic FoodYour little foodies and picky eaters will all find something to munch on in Vegas. From Hash House a Go Go in the Linq to Gordon Ramsay's Pub and Grill in Caesar's Palace, your taste buds will be delighted. Off the Strip23. Flap with the Butterflies.Visit the Springs Preserve and explore the Butterfly Habitat and Botanical Garden. See butterflies, birds, and more wildlife at this fun and educational exhibit. 24. See Las Vegas history at the Neon Museum.Located just north of the Strip on Las Vegas Blvd, you and your kids can revel in the beauty of all the vintage Vegas signs at this unique museum. 25. Explore the Children's Museum.Like many large U.S. cities, Las Vegas hosts a lovely children's museum. Take your littles to the DISCOVERY Children's Museum for fun and educational interactive exhibits. 26. Wander through the Fremont Street Experience.This pedestrian mall hosts shows, shopping, and even a zipline for you and your older kids! 27. See the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon from above.Via helicopter, you and your older children can enjoy a helicopter tour of the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon. Take in breathtaking views and enjoy the thrill of the ride! I hope this inspires you to take your kiddos to Vegas. It may be known as "Sin City," but with so many fun things to do and see, at all price ranges, Vegas is a great little weekend getaway, full of lots of family-friendly activities.
