The tradition is believed to have started in the early 1800s when German immigrants brought their pretzel-making skills to the city. As you wander and explore the streets of Philadelphia, make sure you stop for soft pretzels at one of the many soft pretzel shops. This popular Philadelphia street food will melt in your mouth and satisfy even your pickiest eaters.

Among its most famous offerings are the rival sandwich shops, Pat’s King of Steaks and Geno’s Steaks, both of which claim to serve the best Philly cheesesteak. Located across the street from each other, these iconic eateries have sparked a long-standing rivalry, drawing passionate fans of both as they debate which serves the ultimate version of the city’s signature sandwich. Once you've tried both, take a poll with your kids and see which cheesesteak hawker wins the title of "King of Cheesesteaks."
