This article is dedicated to all my favorite carbs out there. I love you guys.

Houston area restaurants.

Bomb Burgers

A Foodie's Guide to Houston: Part 3; our favorite Houston Restaurants; Grub Burger Bar
Grub Burger Bar

1. Grub Burger Bar

One of our all-time favorite burger joints in Houston is Grub Burger Bar. With a spicy option like the Scorpion and unique savories like You're My Blue Boy and Texas Luau, you can't go wrong with Grub Burger Bar. Join them for happy hour to snag deals on drinks and snacks.

Location: 10403 Katy Fwy Suite 100, Houston, TX 77024, with a new location recently opened in Katy

2. Hubcap Grill

Another favorite burger place is Hubcap Grill. We love their Texas BBQ Burger and their Ranch BLT Burger. This counter serve restaurant set up like a beer garden is a great place to enjoy the fresh air while you sip a beer and devour a tasty burger. Try their sweet potato fries as well!

Location: 1133 W 19th St, Houston, TX 77008, with a location downtown as well

A Foodie's Guide to Houston: Part 3; our favorite Houston Restaurants; Bernie's Burger Bus
Bernie's Burger Bus

3. Bernie's Burger Bus

Beginning as a food truck in a remodeled school bus, and featuring burgers like The Principal, The Homeroom, and The Cheerleader, Bernie's Burger Bus has been featured on the Food Network and is easily one of our favorite burger joints in Houston.

If you're feeling adventurous, try The Detention Burger, with two cheddar cheeseburger patties, tipsy onions, and the principal's fixings, sandwiched between two grilled bacon cheese sandwiches.

Location:
2643 Commercial Center Blvd #320, Katy, TX 77494 (LaCenterra), plus locations in Bellaire and the Heights

4. Stanton City Bites

Stanton's City Bites started in 1961 as a small grocery store, but soon evolved into a popular burger joint. From the outside, it looks like an old house. But inside, this family-run business serves up fresh, made-to-order burgers and sandwiches, which you'll eat at communal seating. You can't go wrong with the Holy Cow, though their Turkey Burger is totally delish as well. Feeling extra hungry? Go all out with the Monster Burger - one pound of beef, half a pound of bacon, loads of cheese, and all the fixin's (have your S/O bring a wheelchair to wheel you out!).

Location: 1420 Edwards St, Houston, TX 77007

Eclectic Eats

A Foodie's Guide to Houston: Part 3; where to eat in Houston; Sam's Fried Chicken and Donuts
Sam's Fried Chicken and Donuts

5. Sam's Fried Chicken and Donuts

By far one of the most interesting food joints in Houston, Sam's Fried Chicken and Donuts is the epitome of edible decadence. With its combination of sweet and savory, the Double Donut Sandwich had us relishing every bite. Not feeling the chicken and donut together? Sam's also serves fried chicken meals, chicken sandwiches, kolaches, donuts, and even salads.

Location: 601 Heights Blvd, Houston, TX 77007

A Foodie's Guide to Houston: Part 3; where to eat in Houston; Oyster Bar at Prohibition

6. The Oyster Bar at Prohibition

For Houston's oyster lovers, the Oyster Bar at Prohibition is an absolute must-try. On Mondays, starting at 4:00, fresh oysters are just $.50! Delectable chargrilled oysters and other small bites are also available, as well as great drink specials. Add in the swanky prohibition-era vibe and the hipster bartenders, and your Monday just went from blasé to "classé"!

Location: 1010 Prairie St, Houston, TX 77002

7. Dish Society

Though the health-conscious eaters love menu options like the quinoa stuffed avocados shown here, menu favorites also include the Houston Hot Chicken Sandwich and Chicken and Biscuits.

Location:
23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd Ste D100 (La Centerra), Katy, TX 77494 (with several other locations throughout the Houston metro)

8. Grazia Italian Kitchen

Located just a couple blocks from our new home in Katy, Grazia Italian Kitchen and Pizzeria has quickly become a favorite spot to take our visiting family members. We love their wood fired pizzas like the Robusto, perfect for the meat-lovers out there, and the classic Margherita. With excellent pastas, meats, and seafood dishes, Grazia's Italian flavors are sure to please!

Location: 22764 Westheimer Parkway, No. 600, Katy, Texas 77450 (with locations in Clear Lake and Pearland as well)

Sweet Treats

A Foodie's Guide to Houston: Part 3; where to eat in Houston; Fellini Gelato; Fellini Caffe
Fellini Gelato and Caffe

9. Fellini Caffe

If you've been reading my blog or my newsletter, you know that gelato is my downfall. I could eat gelato every single day and be perfectly happy, and, folks, Fellini Gelato and Caffe does gelato right. With plenty of flavors to choose from, plus both indoor and outdoor seating tucked away at the end of City Center, Fellini has it all. I know you'll love them as much as I do!

Location: 794 Sorella Ct, Houston, TX 77024

A Foodie's Guide to Houston: Part 3; where to eat in Houston; SweetCup Gelato and Sorbet
SweetCup Gelato and Sorbet Originale

10. Sweetcup Gelato & Sorbet

Another fantastic little gelato shop I love is SweetCup in Montrose. SweetCup Gelato & Sorbet Originale features both delectable gelato and a nice selection of sorbets. Their 3 Amigos features three of my favorite flavors - chocolate, peanut butter, and caramel - all in one scoop!

Location: 3939 Montrose Blvd, Houston, TX 77006

A Foodie's Guide to Houston: Part 3; where to eat in Houston; Somisomi Soft Serve and Taiyaki; ah-boong Korean dessert
Somisomi Soft Serve and Taiyaki

11. SomiSomi Soft Serve & Taiyaki

Somisomi was a new experience for me. Soft serve ice cream is served either in a cup or in a soft, cakey, waffle-cone-type fish-shaped pastry called taiyaki - together the dessert is called Ah-Boong.

The taiyaki is first lined with paste - I had red bean, the most popular - and then filled with your choice of ice cream. Both the ice cream and the pastry were delicious, and I will definitely return to try more flavors!

Location: 23330 Grand Cir Blvd Suite 150, Katy, TX 77449
A Foodie's Guide to Houston: Part 3; dessert spots in Houston; Snowy Village
Snowy Village

12. Snowy Village Dessert Cafe

Head down to Chinatown and treat yourself to a unique dessert at Snowy Village. With lots of yummy flavors to choose from, you'll love Bingsu, this Korean shaved ice dessert. It's like eating flavored snow!

Location: 9600 Bellaire Blvd Suite 103-A, Houston, TX 77036

Though I can hardly encourage you to eat at these carb- and sugar-loaded eateries every day, when it's cheat day and you're ready for a great treat (because you earned it!), check out these tasty spots!
