Like any self-respecting city, San Antonio is a foodie's paradise, which is part of the reason we love it so much. We love the history of the city and the quaintness of the Riverwalk area. And we love that San Antonio has the pace of a large city coupled with small-town friendliness. This foodie's guide to San Antonio offers up our favorite spots for delicious eats in the second largest city in Texas. See our list of top San Antonio restaurants!1. Biga on the Banks This upscale New American restaurant serves bold dishes created by Chef Bruce Auden. We savored a beautiful cheese plate, paired with a bottle of Cabernet from their impressive wine list. The service was impeccable, and the ambience inviting. Open for dinner seven nights a week. Menu changes daily. Location: 203 S St Mary's Street 2. Sushi Zushi On the corner of South St. Mary's and West Market, next door to Biga on the Banks, stands an adorable little sushi spot. Casual and unimposing, this small sushi chain's downtown San Antonio location serves up Japanese fare and specialty drinks (try their twists on the Moscow Mule made with sake!). For the budget-conscience, Sushi Zushi offers a small happy hour menu for both drinks and rolls. Location: 203 S St Mary's Street 3. Boudro's Texas Bistro This gem right on the Riverwalk features bold flavors, specialty cocktails, and a respectable wine list. With selections like Gulf Coast Seacakes, Mesquite Grilled Quail, and Duck Three Ways, your taste buds will thank you profusely. Try the Tableside Guacamole for a refreshing appetizer! Location: 421 E. Commerce 4. Joe's Crab Shack We typically avoid large chain restaurants, but this particular location of the popular seafood chain deserves a shout-out. One day while roaming the Riverwalk, we got caught in an afternoon thunderstorm. We ducked into Joe's and chatted with the bartender for a couple hours while we waited out the storm and charged our phones. Then it was dinner time, so we stayed and had a phenomenal lobster steam pot while we watched others zipping down the Riverwalk, trying to stay out of the rain as much as possible. Location: 212 College Street 5. Tacos El Regio Okay, bear with me for a minute. On St Mary's, outside Hardbodies, lives a taco truck called Tacos El Regio. And at 10:45 on a Sunday night, I indulged in the BEST torta I have ever eaten in my life, and I've eaten a considerable number of tortas in my day. Marvin's asada tacos were also legit. And the best part - the sauces! Whether you choose green or red, expect a nice kick. Location: 2726 N St Mary's Street 6. Ostra Restaurant Another fabulous restaurant located on the Riverwalk, Ostra serves upscale seafood and offers indoor and outdoor seating. Location: 212 W Crockett Street We hope this foodie's guide to San Antonio has been helpful for you as your plan your trip to the home of the Alamo. We plan to return in a few months to search for more delicious treats!
