In Northern Wales the tiny Creuddyn Peninsula juts out into the Irish Sea. Because of its size, and because it is connected by train, one can easily see all the main sites of the Creuddyn Peninsula and the town of Conwy in a day or two. Fuel your wanderlust with these travel photos from Northern Wales.1. Colwyn BayThis unassuming little town features soft sandy beach, restaurants and pubs, boutique shops, charity shops, and B&Bs. Stop by the outdoor flea market, have a pint with the friendly locals, and take in a show at the Theatre Colwyn, an art deco theater that has been entertaining locals and tourists since 1909. If you have time, visit the red pandas and snow leopards at the Welsh Mountain Conservation Zoo. 2. LLandudnoAnother quaint town in Wales, Llandudno is most known for the Great Orme. The Great Orme is a limestone headland that lies at the end of the peninsula and reaches an elevation of 679 feet. The top is accessible by car, by foot, or by either the Great Orme Tramway or the Llandudno Cable Car. We opted to take the tram up and walk back down. At the top, walk out toward the water to take in the views. As you walk along, make sure you take the opportunity to spot the famous Kashmiri Goats, descendants of a pair of goats gifted to Queen Victoria by the Shah of Persia. The town of Llandudno itself deserves to be explored as well. Walk out the Llandudno Pier for more scenic views, enjoy a nice lunch at one of their many restaurants, and see how many of Simon Hedger's Alice-in-Wonderland-themed statues you can spot around town. 3. ConwyBuilt in the 1200's, the medieval Conwy Castle is the crown jewel of Conwy (pronounced Conway), Wales. Tour the castle, climb the towers, and enjoy gorgeous views of the bay and city below. Then walk along Conwy Quay along the River Conwy, have a pint at one of the pubs, and, if you're hungry, grab some tasty fish and chips to eat along the water. Sadly, the gorgeous country of Wales is often overlooked by travel magazines. With its fair share of castles and green countryside, sandy beaches and rocky coastline, Wales has much to offer travelers. We hope we've inspired you to add Northern Wales to your bucket list.
